Description
I wrote this piece in 1969 for the Oklahoma Baptist University Chorale
and its director, the late Dr. James Woodward. I was the student conductor
and president of the Chorale at the time.
The lyrics are from the poems of John Soos, a student at the university.
I am not a composer who likes to musically dwell on words and
phrases forever (…and ever...and ever). Instead, I prefer to state what
needs to be stated and leave it alone after that. The piece is in four sections.
Each poem/section is treated in different musical styles
appropriate to the lyrics.
I conducted the premiere performance in April, 1969.
